These are the January Update news:
- 1/1/17
- Updates: as you've probably noticed, I haven't been updating the
page as often as I used to. This is happening because I'm working
on a new design. There are people interested in joining the RPG
Channel staff and that will free some of my time, so I'll be able
to work on a new RPG Channel for the New Millenium (damn, that
sentence is really worn out :) ).
- Patch: Tales of Phantasia? English translation patch?
enough said :). Congratulations to everybody at DeJap for being
able to release the most expected translation patch in the last
few years.
- 1/1/1
- Millenium: eeeh... we changed year, decade, century and millenium.
And notice the cool date! (1/1/1) Happy new year :)
- Staff: I'm planning to re-design this page (a new RPG Channel for
the new millenium or something like that). However, due to the work
on my other page,
my studies and, generally, my real world life, I don't have the time
to do it all by myself. That's why I'm doing it only if I have a staff
to back me up. No HTML knowledge needed, I'm just looking for reviewers,
news posters, etc etc etc... I'd still update the News, but would have
more people helping me out so I could free up a lot of time (I'm using
this system at We Have ROMs
and it's working out great! So, if you think you can help,
drop me an e-mail.
- Tsugunai: on the 22nd of February, Sony will release this RPG-like game
in Japan. I don't really consider it a RPG since most of the info I have
approaches it to a puzzle game (but since Sony calls it a RPG...). In the
game you are a soul that has to possess the body of 30 people to "correct"
their lifes (much like the old TV series "Quantum Leap"). Let's see what
comes out of this.
- Final Fantasy X: well, if you were expecting this to be the big massive
Squaresoft multiplayer RPG, forget it. The on-line option has been removed
from the game due to some problems with the PlayOnLine server. So, you'll
have to control Tide all by yourself, on his quest to beat the crap out of
Ryugo. According to what I've heard, this game will be quite similar to
Final Fantasy 8 (yuck). Anyway, all our doubts will be cleared in March of 2001.
- Sega: according to the New York Times, hell has frozen over... uh, I mean,
Nintendo tried to buy Sega :). Both companies have already denied this
rumour. Nevertheless, this caused some changes in the stock market, with
Sega's rising 10.5% while Nintendo's dropped 2.9%.
- Emblem Saga: this new tactical RPG for the PlayStation should be released
in Japan during March 2001. The game should be very similar to other
tactical battle modes (like Shining Force 3 or Tactical Ogre). The only
important difference I noticed so far seems to be that here, when a
character dies, he remains dead for the rest of the game. Let's see
how this game behaves during its release, that will occur in the same
month as Final Fantasy X.
-
Cash Wars: remember that the
Lorien
MDN is still accepting members! If you decide to join this cool game,
be sure to look for us!
You know something important that happened recently? Then
send it to me! If it's really important, I'll place it here!
