These are the October Update news:
- 99/10/23
- Final Fantasy 8: this famous RPG will have a PC version! The graphics
will be better than those of the PSX version, but the rest of the
game should be pretty much the same. It'll be released on 15th November,
but you can
pre-order it now and you'll receive it before
everyone else!
- Pokemon: have you already finished the Blue and Red versions of
Gameboy's Pokemon? You're a Pikachu fan? Then, you're one lucky
person! Pokemon Yellow is the most recent Pokemon game for Gameboy
and it was made specially for all the Pikachu fans. I'll add it
next week to my Download section. Now, tell me, who's your
favourite webmaster? :)
- Happy Birthday: RPG Channel celebrates today its first year on
the web! During this time, the page has gone through good moments
and bad moments. Nevertheless, I've always tried to keep improving
it. And I will continue to do so. On the next global update (in
a week, more or less) I'll add an on-line game shop. It will be an
interesting addition to this page. I'm taking suggestions on what
else should I add!
- Need Help: guys, I'm urgently needing some help with this page.
University takes a huge chunk of my time. I need someone to help
me, either by writing some RPG reviews, some news, hints, tips,
walkthroughs... anything that can help me! I've dedicated a lot
of my time to this page, please take a bit of your time to help
me improve it!
- Top 100: I've joined the Top 100. Please take some time to
give me a vote.
- 99/10/18
- Need help: being in University is taking much more time than I
was expecting. I will still be able to continue with this page,
but I will need your help. Send me anything you consider important
for this page: RPG reviews, news, hints, secrets, walkthroughs...
If you think there is something you can do to help this page, let
me know!
- Emu Realm: Swordsman's emulation page now has an on-line store.
He's still building it, but there are already some things you can
buy there. This store will sell gaming-related stuff (games, consoles,
etc). I'm planning to add something similar to my page on the next
global update, so keep coming back! Until then, visit Swordsman's
page at
www.emurealm.xrs.net.
- 99/10/9
- Emu Realm: this is Swordsman's newest emulation page. As you
all (should) know, Swordsman is the author of another RPG
related homepage, RPG Ring. Emu Realm is a general gaming page,
with reviews, games, emulators, hints and more for several
systems. Visit it at
www.emurealm.xrs.net.
- 99/10/1
- Affiliates: in the bottom of the left frame there are two
links to other sites. These are affiliated sites, great places
with cool webmasters that are helping me by making my site known
to more people. I think that it's fair to do the same with them.
Visit their pages!
- 99/9/27
- Global Update: October's global update came a couple of days
ahead of schedule... but I had to do it. I need to take care
of some University related issues in the next couple of days,
so I've decided to add this new update sooner than usual. Sorry
for any incovenience! But this also let's you play those new
games in the Download section sooner than you were expecting :).
- PSX 2: the most awaited system already has a release date...
On March 4 of 2000, Sony's new system will be available
in Japan. Europe and North America will see it on the Fall
of 2000. The system's specifications are quite impressive...
the 128 bits CPU, with a clock speed of 294.912 MHz, is supported
by an impressive graphical co-processor running at 147.456 MHz.
This system will support both CD-ROM (24X) and DVD-ROM (4X).
It will also be compatible with all the old PlayStation's games
(which shows a lot of good sense... SEGA could learn much with
Sony). The initial pack, bringing 2 Dual Shock gamepads and
a Demo Disc, will cost 39.800 yen (380 USD, 360 Euros, 70.000
Escudos). Support for Audio-CD and DVD-Video are also included.
Now, the most important thing for us... what RPGs will be
available for this system? Breath of Fire 4 will be one of
the first RPGs available for PSX 2. Lunar 3, from Working
Designs, should follow shortly. Jade Coccon 2 is also scheduled
to be released until the end of 2000. There are also games
that are expected to be released for this system... Final
Fantasy is almost a sure bet. Chrono Cross is also likely to
have a PSX 2 version.
Will Dreamcast stand a chance against this system? Well, I think
not. PSX 2 has a superior hardware and, by adding PlayStation
support, Sony has made an important move. We all remember how
SEGA dropped its previous projects: Mega CD, MD 32X and Saturn.
Why should Dreamcast be any different? Sony, on the other hand,
has taken PlayStation to the TOP (beating N64, a superior system).
PSX 2 users will be able to play not only the new games but also
the old PSX stuff (probably at a really low price). In my opinion,
if you need to choose between Dreamcast and PSX 2, go for Sony's
system. SEGA does not deserve our trust.
You know something important that happened recently? Then
send it to me! If it's really important, I'll place it here!
