About the Sony Playstation unit:
The PlayStation
|
The
Playstation is the product of Sony's desire to gain a
foot in the video game market and a business deal with
Nintendo gone bad. Way back in 1992, Nintendo revealed to
gamers it's intentions for making a Snes CD add-on. The
Snes Cd boasted FMV, digitized video and audio, and
bigger and brighter games (for those of you that had
Nintendo Powers, check out the April '92 NP.) In order to
make the Snes CD, Nintendo struck a deal with Sony.
Halfway through development Nintendo pulled out. Not
wanting to waste all their work, Sony decided to use
their research from the Snes CD to make a new system.
After a lot of changes, such as the addition of real-time
3d graphics, a midi music chip, new controllers, etc.,
Sony had the Playstation.
